Description
This work for wind band is dedicated to those who have lost a loved one to suicide. It was written as an offering of remembrance, compassion, and quiet solidarity—acknowledging a grief that is often complex, deeply personal, and difficult to express in words.
Rather than attempting to portray despair directly, the music centers on the emotional landscape left behind: shock, sorrow, unanswered questions, and the enduring presence of love. Long, sustained lines and restrained harmonic motion create space for reflection, while moments of tension and release mirror the uneven journey of mourning. Silences and fragile textures are treated with as much care as sound, allowing the ensemble to breathe and grieve collectively.
At its core, the piece seeks to honor both the lives that were lost and those who continue forward carrying their memory. It does not offer resolution in a traditional sense, but instead affirms remembrance, empathy, and the shared human need to be heard and held in moments of profound loss.
