Fuego

Fuego is an energetic concert work that lives up to its name—the Spanish word for fire. From the opening measure to the final note, the music drives forward with relentless momentum, featuring fast-moving melodies, exciting rhythmic figures, and technical passages that challenge every section of the ensemble.

Remaining in 2/4 throughout, the piece creates a constant sense of motion and excitement. The percussion section fuels the intensity with energetic grooves featuring drum set, congas, toms, and other driving rhythms that propel the ensemble forward. Brilliant woodwind runs, bold trombone licks, and rapid exchanges between sections add to the fiery character, creating moments of excitement and virtuosity.

Although Fuego is technically demanding, it is equally rewarding to perform. Its infectious energy, rhythmic vitality, and colorful orchestration make it an exhilarating experience for both performers and audiences alike—a musical celebration of passion, intensity, and fire.
